Sol Gel is a special coating applied to the bead to long lasting color to seed beads made with crystal glass, including those with silver lining, as well as to alabaster and chalk glass, allowing for three different levels of opacity. The treatment protects the beads from exposure to sunlight, washing, cosmetic exposure, and body oils and acids. The colors are fade-resistant and washable in temperatures up to 100° F.
